Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF): A Natural Regenerative Treatment: How It Works & Why It Rejuvenates Your Skin

Nóvara is pleased to announce the addition of a new treatment to our aesthetics offerings, Platelet-Rich Fibrin.

What Is Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) Treatment?

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a natural regenerative treatment that uses components from your own blood to support healing, tissue repair, and rejuvenation. It is widely used in medical and aesthetic treatments because it works with the body’s natural healing processes rather than introducing synthetic substances.

PRF is completely autologous, meaning it is derived from your own blood, with no added chemicals or additives.

Please note the images below include blood.

How Is Platelet-Rich Fibrin Made?

PRF is created by taking a small sample of blood and processing it in a centrifuge at a controlled speed. This method allows platelets, white blood cells, and growth factors to be concentrated within a fibrin matrix.

Because no anticoagulants are used, the blood forms a natural fibrin scaffold, which helps support a slow and sustained release of growth factors over time.

How Does Platelet-Rich Fibrin Treatment Work?

PRF works by gradually releasing growth factors that play a key role in tissue regeneration. These growth factors help to:

  • Stimulate collagen production
  • Improve blood supply
  • Support cell repair and renewal
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Stimulate hair growth

The fibrin structure acts as a framework that encourages natural healing and regeneration in a controlled way.

Common Uses of PRF Treatment

As well as medical applications such as treatment for damaged tissue, PRF is used across a range of aesthetic applications, including:

  • Skin rejuvenation and improvement in skin quality
  • Under-eye rejuvenation
  • Hair restoration and scalp treatments

Because PRF is derived from your own blood, it integrates naturally with the body.

Benefits of PRF Treatment

Platelet-Rich Fibrin treatment:

  • Uses your own blood
  • No synthetic fillers or chemicals
  • Biocompatible and natural
  • Supports collagen and tissue regeneration
  • Minimal risk of allergic reaction
  • Gradual, natural-looking results

What to Expect From a PRF Treatment

A Platelet-Rich Fibrin treatment is usually quick and minimally invasive. After the blood sample is taken and processed, the PRF is micro needled or injected into the treatment area.

White woman, wearing dark top and dark headband, reclines with her eyes closed while Sarah, wearing an apron and pink gloves, injects Platelet-Rich Fibrin into her face.

Most people experience minimal discomfort, with possible mild swelling or bruising that typically resolves within a few days. Results develop gradually as the body responds to the growth factors over several weeks.
